    Is it then the goal to over a period of time, erase those other facets?

    ...her master takes control of her life and directs her toward reaching her potential in an area where she might not otherwise focus. Thus while some facets might be extinquished, others would be encouraged and allowed to flourish.

    Does a TPE neccesitate the slave giving up all that is who she is? Isn't it part of her masters responsibility to see to it that she is all that she can be?

    More bits and pieces from yet another person:
    My Master *is* my focus, but I also love horses, reading, sports and other things...

    the focus of tpe is not to have the slave merge with her Master until she has no thoughts of her own...

    ==================

    What an *interesting* thread! This *well* illustrates that we have a number of caring, *thinking* individuals on this list.

    There is a constant in the universe of living things. The focus of all life is CHANGE! No matter what the organism -- from the simplest virus all the way to humankind itself -- as soon as a living being ceases to grow, it begins to *die*.

    So too it is within our chosen lifestyle. A Total Power Exchange should *never* totally assimilate the one into the personality of the other. To do so would be suicide on the part of the one assimilated, and homicide on the part of the one who permitted it to happen.

    As a Dominant male, I am an enabler. By providing for the wants and the needs of my submissive, I free her -- just as xxxx suggests -- to become all that she can be.

    I refer to myself as a Dominant, and to the focus of my dominance as my submissive....

    But in truth, we are each enslaved to the other...
